Unhappy over court's order to distribute Quran , Hindu girl to move HC

Ranchi, Jul 16 (IANS): A 19-year-old Hindu girl, who was asked by a court here to distribute copies of the Quran as punishment for a "communal" post on social media, is unhappy over the directive and said she would move the High Court.

Judicial Magistrate Manish Singh granted bail to Richa Patel on Monday on the condition that she will distribute five copies of the Muslim holy book to five institutions. She has to submit the receipt of distributed copies to the court in 15 days.

"I have only shared the Facebook post. The person who posted it should have been arrested first. I will appeal against the court order in the High Court. Today I have been asked to distribute Quran and tomorrow I may be asked to accept Islam," Richa told reporters.

A case was registered against Patel at the Pithoria police station here by the Sadar Anjuman Islamia Committee last week for allegedly spreading communal hatred through her post, and she was arrested within hours.

Her arrest caused resentment among the Hindu community and some organisations even took out protest march.

In my understanding, 19 year age is not innocence. India's legal age of consent and marriage is 18, but according to the BBC, marital rape was not considered an offense thanks to a legal clause in India's rape law that allowed men to have sex with their wives as long as they were older than 15.

Though whatever may be the court ruling. Her comments on social media reflect her deep hatred and inner feelings about the Muslim religion in particular. Let's not forget she has justified the recent lynching of Tabrez Ansari against which some boys made the video in Tik Tok taking terrorism to avenge the killing.
Her denial of punishment is the contempt of court. There are many professional in jails serving various degree of punishment. Some even opt for education and professional services. This doesn't mean that distributing Islamic Holybook of Quran will weaken her faith.
The wage argument doesn't justify her innocence.
If distributing the Quran is unaccepted as punishment if the court reverses its decision and asked to clean toilet and manual scavenging of public toilets will it be accepted?
In this year the BJP ruled Jarkhand witnessed 19 lynching cases. If the court doesn't take appropriate action tomorrow India will surpass the United States in Lynching.
Simply because India is seeing a smartphone boom and almost everybody is hooked onto social media. The alarming fact is that social media is being used to spread hate, divisive agenda and incite social unrest.
The German parliament has voted in favor of a law that includes the provision to levy fines of up to 50 million euro from popular social media companies such as Facebook and YouTube if they fail to remove hateful posts in a time-bound manner.
Her case needs to be handed over to cybercrime. The best justice for her is the suspension of her social media account and no sim should be allowed unless she agrees in writing to the court not repeat the offense.

A person slaps a person it doesn’t mean you to should act.
Your mature enough, Should have thought about sentiment of a community

Main accused to should be made to do community service

Forcible conversion is not acceptable in Islam.
You can prove your innocence but mistakes z a mistake
Court cases go on you’ll have to accept your mistake

Forgive her as she pleads innocent.
Forgiveness has greater impact than punishment.

    Avinash,

Its all in our mind as to how we take a holy scripture. If we take it as 'other religion's book', we might be resentful towards it but if we take it for what it's teachings mean, I am sure no man will differentiate between Geeta/Bible/Quran.

You may have heard a Muslim man in UP was reading Geeta in the evenings because it gave him peace but men of his own community attacked him for it.
