Margao, Jul 17: Body of an eleven-year old boy, Deepak Khatri, who had fallen into a stream and went missing on Monday at Dongorim, Navelim, was fished out from the water body at Mandop, on Tuesday evening.
A local resident of Mandop, Sreejit Audi spotted Deepak's body and tried to retrieve it, but owing to the strong water current, the body was carried further downstream. Sreejith persisted in his efforts and succeeded in recovering the body, following which he handed it over to the police team.
As reported in TOI, the search operations that were launched by the fire and emergency services on Monday evening continued through the night. Navy divers were pressed into service on Tuesday while an expert swimmer, Francis Barreto, from Sanguem, also assisted in the operations.

Deepak was reportedly cycling along the pathway adjoining the stream along with some friends on Monday evening when his bicycle apparently skidded causing him to fall into the water along with the bicycle. The bicycle was retrieved from the water late Monday evening.
