Coimbatore, Jul 18: Insurgence in the violation of traffic rules is being observed around the country. Some of the violators manage to flee without getting into trouble. Officials are working hard towards minimizing the traffic risks and casualties.

In an attempt to contain these violations, Coimbatore traffic police have been provided with body-worn cameras, with a hope to assist them in better road surveillance.

Over 70 body-worn cameras have already been provided to the department. The cameras will capture traffic violations and incidents of crime and the feed captured is directly transmitted to the control room.

The Coimbatore Commissioner of Police, Sumeet Saran, stated that over a period of time these cameras will be given out to other police officers as well.
