Bengaluru: CM post to Congress - Kumaraswamy to use last weapon to save coalition

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Jul 21: The coalition government of the state, which is making a herculean task to save the government in the trust vote that is slated for Monday, is failing to convince the rebel MLAs. In the background of this development, chief minister (CM) H D Kumaraswamy is likely to use the last weapon in his armory to save the coalition government at any cost.

Kumaraswamy has come to know that it will be impossible to prove the majority of the government on the floor of the Assembly on Monday. More than 17 MLAs of the government are not in the city. Some sources say the CM has said that the position of chief minister will be given to a Congress leader in order to woo the rebels.

After the 2018 election results, when Congress and JD(S) formed a coalition government, the Congress leaders had said that "Ours is not a 20:20 government. There will be only one chief minister throughout the five-year term.” However, now, as the number of disgruntled MLAs in the Congress party is increasing, Kumaraswamy has decided to offer the CM post to the Congress party.

Responding to the query by the media, CM H D Kumaraswamy said, "All our efforts are over. It is not possible for us to convince the rebel MLAs. You convince your own MLAs, you take the position of CM and save the government. The coalition government should survive, even at the cost of sacrificing the CM's position. Let Parameshwara, Siddaramaiah, Kharge, D K Shivakumar or anyone else from the Congress party become the chief minister. We will support them from outside. Even the JD (S) supremo H D Devegowda has given his consent to this decision."

It's coalition govt after all. Any suitable agreement between coalition partners is quite acceptable for smooth running of the govt. What's wrong in that.

Now its obvious who was the master mind of this 'rebellion' fiasco. All the while they were blaming BJP for poaching. So Siddus tricks are out of the bag ! It will be shameful if its a Cong CM now and more disastarous when HDK pulls the rug from under the chair in couple of months. In any case, its Goodbye Congress!

If congress Candidate Becomes CM Gowda will not allow him to function. Gowda Has not spared anyone sofar. Siddu, Hegde, Dharam Singh, Vishwanath,Bommai were all Dumped by Gowda. He Does not know the meaning of alliance. He just stabs the alliance. Reason For Todays crisis mainly because Gowda dumped vishwanath.Had Vishwanath was Given Ministerial Position (which he deserves) this Crisis have been avoided . All Good Opportunities HDK Had Since Many Years Gowda Has Destroyed Them by his interference . If Gowda Had not interfered HDK would have been permanent CM of karnataka. Its all finished now and too late. All opportunities Of HDK are coming to an end!

It's wrong HDK to hold CM Post. But Congress CM may face same problem
That Dharma Singh faced. The Govt function will not improve.Even BJzp form the Govt will have same character. There's need to change defection Act. It the responsibility of the voters to think new govt with neew representative s and present all elected representative s need rest in resorts or hospitals. We must come out from politics and Delhi model new entry of representative s required

When your party is incapable of controlling thier own MLAs,then they are not capable to run the government. Its shows your parties unity. Let them learn first how to run the party. After that ruling will come

Now people accusing bjp of poaching should ask themselves. How this helps if it was poaching. Some diehard congress people should grow up and understand any party is not a monolith. Even with this gowda may be suggesting the hand of some congress leaders to congress high command.

People of Karnataka voted for congress party, then How come these MLAs switch the party. There should be a rule, if at all any MLA want to change the party, he need to win election from the new party, he can cheat the people who elected him.
this applies for all parties, all MLAs not for any party in particular.

This debunks the theory that this crisis is due to inducement. When the congress came down from 122 to 78. BJp rose from 40 to 104. Why congress was desperate to form a government with jds who wanted nothing less than cm post. When cm himself could not win his seat why this backdoor entry was needed. I f you only talk about numbers there are many ways you can stack a deck for which immoral congress should not complain

That's because HDK has come to the end of the road. He is compelled to sacrifice CM's post by the cunning fox Siddha. There's no other way now, either sacrifice or sit in the opposition.
