Sharjah, Jul 23: Sharjah Municipality (SM) launched slaughterhouse on wheels on Sunday, to meet the residents' demand for the upcoming Eid Al Adha and ease the pressure on Sharjah's abattoirs.

The mobile slaughterhouse will be considered as part of the municipality's central abattoir and has a capacity to slaughter 10 small sheep and goats at a time and it will also have a veterinarian on board to supervise the process.

As per Khaleej Times report, assistant director-general of the public health sector and the central laboratories, Sheikha Shatha Al Mualla said that the new service can be requested at a nominal fee by calling 056-5064144 and it will be available daily from 9 am to 4 pm, except Fridays, Saturdays and holidays.

The portable slaughterhouse is equipped with the same tools that are used in the central abattoir, complete with water supply, drainage pipes and shelves with hangers and it has been manufactured using recycled materials. Cold temperature will be maintained at the new abattoir so the slaughtering process will not be affected by the heat of the summer said an official from the municipality.
