Sharad Yadav Threatens to Consume Poision if Women's Bill is Passed

NEW DELHI, May 5: Strident in his opposition to the Women's Reservation Bill, JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav on Friday said he would "consume poison" in the House if it was passed in its present form.

"We may not have the numbers but I will consume poison and die here but not allow the passage of the Women's Reservation Bill," he said.

Participating in the debate on the Motion of Thanks to the President for her address to the joint sitting of Parliament, he accused the Congress of indulging in "tokenism" over the issue of reservation for women.

"Congress party has been resorting to tokenism by appointing a woman as President and as Speaker," Yadav said adding that the real need was to liberate women who belong to the backward and most backward classes.

What a joke, how can a person be this ignorant and vile in this time and age? How can anyone stop progress of women and be this public about it? This guy should be admitted in the nut-house. The comments here are hilarious and very supportive, kudos to the readers of Daiji.

If one''s body (and mind) is already poisoned, consuming poison may not kill him due to the built-in resistance. He should find alternative way to kill himself like jumping into the drainage open holes in Bangalore.

What he has said is "I will consume poison and die but I won''t allow the women''s reservation bill without a quota for Dalit/Tribal women". Sharad Yadav, president of Janata Dal United, wanted "quota within quota...just the way we have done it in Bihar".

Mr. Yadav, Do you not agree on eqauality and this can be achieved only if WOMEN are treated on par with Men. Your suggesting to consume poison is an empty threat and an emotional black mail. Please set aside tese tactics. These will not work. Joe Gonsalves

Lalu had made a statement in early 2000''s regarding JHARKAND creation... IF BIHAR IS SPLIT INTO TWO, IT WILL BE OVER MY DEAD BODY.. Intention is definitely good. I am a total OPPOSER of any kind of reservation based on Gender, Cast/Community/Religion, Language, Heritage etc. Example - Will any one give the SSLC 1st rank to anyone other than the person who has scored highest marks? Guess not. Same way let the really talented person win the position and let them not be denied of an opportunity because some person is born as a female in this world. If we start going in this direction, soon there will be reservation for TRANS-SEXUALS, GAYs, Physically Challenged etc in the parliament. Hopefully no MENTALLY CHALLEGED person will be given reservation in elections.

This clearly shows the selfishness and narrow mindedness of these dirty politicians. I advise, the LS speaker should make the poison available to all the members. Whoever want to consume it and die on the floor of parliament are most welcome to do so, so that our political system gets cleansed.

Mr. Shard Yadav by his statement of killing himself is danger for himself so he should be rushed to Government run psychiatric hospital in India for mental treatment. Parliament is not belong to one person or Mr. Yadav, It is belong to all Indian Citizens So the Indian people do not want Mr. Yadav to kill himself in Parliament and disturb peace & waste public funds. So the Government should not allow Mr. Yadav inside the Parliment.

Sharad Yadav is clever enough to say if the bill is passed in its present form. Now what is this present form have any body throw some light? May be the present form drafted is not in favour of women hence he is talking about poison. Another thing, do you believe politician will even take strong poison and kill themselves. Lots of threats, black mail is going on in Indian Democracy, but nobody has ever taken such acts such like consuming poison for a cause.

Women reservation bill is a must as it will give the motivation to the exploited women in India to fight and gain for their identity against the ruthless men''s oppression. Request the UPA Govt. to pass and enact immediately. Mr. Sharad Pawar we are waiting for your promise to fulfill as we all know the politician’s language too well. Do not waste time.

Pathetic! It’s our mistake that we elect such childish, immature and mentally imbalanced politicians. Let’s hope many of our other like minded politicians will also follow suit. Sharad Yadav and JDU – RIP. However, it’s a fact that most of the reservations are nothing but vote bank politics and all political parties including JDU are guilty of indulging in this.

WHAT A FOOLISH STATEMENT. Mr. Yadav you are unfit for MLA, you are emotionally blackmailing the parliament. Do not you think recently voters have thrown out parties those who are doing emotional blackmail, last moment agendas for vote purpose.

Now Voters are clever actively participate in parliament and work for the betterment of country instead of foolish slogans. You are digging your own tomb whatelse can I SAY.

I think Sharad Yadav really fear the Success and Prosperity of women that is why he did not appreciate the appointment of a woman speaker and could be even a Woman President. It is better that he dies than object the women reservation bill.

It is time that women remain at par with men. We do not need such political Men leaders or even men out of Political Field in this country who cannot see the success of Women. It is better they take poison.
