Uttarakhand offers subsidy on pulses


Dehradun, Jul 24 (IANS): The Uttarakhand government has announced a subsidy of Rs 15 per kg per month on pulses. The ration cardholders can buy 2 kg pulses every month at the subsidised rates.

The decision was taken at the cabinet meeting here on Wednesday, Urban Development Minister Madan Kaushik said. Nearly 23.80 lakh ration card holders could avail the benefit of the scheme, he said.

Due to this subsidy, prices of pulses, like chana, malka and masoor, would come down considerably, the government claimed.
