GDA action against land norm abuse to begin from Indirapuram

Ghaziabad, Jul 24 (IANS): The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) is planning to take action against those who are using residential properties for commercial purposes against the norms. The action is likely to be initiated from Indirapuram.

V.K. Singh, officer on special duty in GDA, told IANS on Wednesday, "We have started identifying residential properties where the owners are carrying out commercial activities. The authority has started serving notices to them".

"The maximum violators were found to be running grocery shops and educational activities, like nursery schools and tuition centres, against the GDA land use norms," he said.

The notices had been served under Sections 16 and 26(2) of the UP Urban Planning & Development Act 1973, he said. The sealing and other punitive actions would be initiated after the notice period, he added.

The enforcement team has been asked to be ready for action after the Kanwar Yatra is over.
