Haridwar, Jul 25: Sadhvi Prachi, leader of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) landed herself in yet another controversy, where she called for banning of Muslims from making Kanwar for the devotees of Lord Shiva in Haridwar.
In what seems like a religious agenda, Sadhvi Prachi condemned Muslims for making Kanwar which is used by the devotees of Lord Shiva in Haridwar. She stated that over 99 per cent of Muslims are indulged in the making of Kanwar, which deprive Hindus of employment opportunities. Therefore, it was necessary to discourage the Muslims from making Kanwar and drive them away from the area.
On Wednesday, Sadhvi Prachi was addressing a crowd saying, “The 'Kanwar Yatra' is an annual pilgrimage for Lord Shiva's devotees. Kanwariyas (pilgrims) visit places like Haridwar, Gaumukh and Gangotri in Uttarakhand and Sultanganj in Bihar to fetch holy waters from River Ganga and worship the Almighty with the same water.”

She stirred up tension when she claimed madrasas birth terrorists such as Hafiz Saeed, founder of terrorist organisation, Lashkar-e-Taiba. Further, she declared that people like BJP MP Sadhvi Pragya and the man who assassinated Mahatma Gandhi, Nathuram Godse can never be born in madrasas.
