As India moves to e-mobility, plan for battery waste disposal: Minister

New Delhi, Jul 26 (IANS): As India gradually shifts towards electric mobility, Union Minister Arvind Ganpat Sawant on Friday said that the country must plan for battery waste disposal.

The Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises was speaking at an event organised by Assocham here.

The Minister said: "Just like IT boom came with the problem of e-waste, similarly, with the gradual shift to e-mobility, India must also think in terms of battery waste disposal".

"Let us come up with a proposal to clear battery waste disposal because when we want to create a pollution free country, pollution created by battery waste should not be there," Sawant said.
