Chandigarh, Jul 27 (IANS): To commemorate the 20th anniversary of Operation Vijay, also known as the Kargil War, ceremonies at war memorials were organised at Kharga Corps, Vajra Corps and Rising Star Corps of Western Command at Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.

The functions were held at several places, including Ambala, Jalandhar and Yol Cantonment near Dharamsala.

Besides this, there were commemoration activities organised in various Army schools in military stations and cantonments to include patriotic songs, painting and debate competitions on the Kargil Vijay Diwas theme.

At Yol (Himachal Pradesh), a motivational talk by Sub Maj (honorary Captain) Bana Singh was also organised.

Screening of motivational Kargil war movies were also organised at all locations including at Chandimandir.

The Kargil Victory Flame which started from Delhi was received by Western Command at Chandimandir from where it further moved via Mandi, Manali and reached Dras on Friday.
