Bungee-jumper severely injured after cable snaps

London, Jul 27 (IANS): A bungee-jumper suffered severe spinal injuries as he plunged almost 100 metres to the ground after his leg harness snapped, as per the viral video of the horrific incident.

The incident occurred at the Rady Europy theme park in Poland's Gdynia last Sunday, media reports said.

The 39-year-old man, whose name was not revealed, jumped off an elevated platform on a crane, but went into a free fall as the harness rope snapped.

Fortunately, he landed on a large inflatable cushion - breaking his initial fall - but bounced off and fell on the ground.

He was immediately taken to hospital where it was found he had broken his spine but was not paralysed as his spinal cord was safe. He also had severe internal organ injuries.

Bungeeclub, which has been running the business for 19 years, said there have been no accidents for years, and they were cooperating with the police in investigating the incident.
