Muslims can say 'Jai Shri Ram': Assam BJP leader

Guwahati, Jul 28 (IANS): There was no restriction in Islam to say "Jai Shri Ram", said Sayed Mominul Awal, spokesman of the Assam Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), here on Sunday.

"Muslims can say 'Jai Shri Ram'. Ram was a king for which we talk about Ram Rajya. Ram was an epoch-maker. There can't be any restriction on saying 'Jai Shri Ram'," said Awal, the Assam Minority Development Board Chairman.

The statement assumes significance as there have been reports of miscreants forcing Muslims to say 'Jai Shri Ram' in different parts of the country, including Assam.

"People following Islam could also cheer for Jesus Christ, Hanuman and Sankarguru (Srimanta Sankardeva) as they were epoch-makers. Cheering for great people can never be a religious crime," said Awal.

A section of people were trying to create intolerance in the state by adding religious colour to saying of 'Jai Shri Ram' with an intention to destabilise the BJP government in Assam, he said and added,the BJP would again form the government in Assam in 2021.

Awal said those trying to add religious colour to the 'Jai Shri Ram' chant should fist study and acquire knowledge about the BJP.

Last month two incidents of miscreants forcing Muslims to say 'Jai Shri Ram' were witnessed in the Barpeta district of Assam.

    Its time for people to take proper step towards these nuisance creating Politicians. Even Central govt and SC also should have bring strict law to curb like these statements. They should be be put behind bars permanently for these communal disturbing statements. These goons only know to disturb harmony among communities . No one can force to others to chant any slogans of other community. Shame on BJP high command who cannot control their politicians statements neither they take action against them....

    We know which category Muslims are in BJP... Hypocrites, only name sake Muslim, but doesn't even know the fundamentals of Islam and neither practice it. Also this fellow doesn't know even the true reality. God has given tongue doesn't mean Kutch bhi bako chalega.

    If Ram was just king then why Hindus or building his temple and worshipping?? Are they supposed to worship a king or their God? We don't think so even their Religious scriptures allows them to worship a human.


    By the way what is there any need for a Muslim to chant even such slogan?? Are Muslims forcing anybody to chant Allahu Akbar or any other slogan?? There is no compulsion in Religion.... Your Deen is for you and our Deen is for us.

    Dear ones,now please take a deep breath and all of us should be normal.Dont make anyone by force to say Jai sri Ram or allaha akbar or any religious verses. Simply be friendly to all religions and respect all.It will lead only to problems.we have now more than that.Need not be ultra religious.God knows us.Thatswhy best is do your religious duty as you want and let others in freedom .

    From the House of the assembly to mob lynching to force 'Jai Shri Ram' became war crime in PM Modi's India.
    Before 1991 Babri Masjid demolition BJP's veteran leader LK Advani took the bloody wheel of Rath Yatra on the same slogan sow the seed of hatred in the name of Hindu-Muslim that left more than 5000 people killed and more than Rs 10,000 crores loss to the economy.

    From 1992 to 2019, in Ayodhya Lord Ram is still waiting for his temple, but holy 'Ram Bakth' is offering 'Nar Bali' killing innocent Indians in the name of Jai Shri Ram.

    On Saturday a retired Muslim Army officer in Meerut of Uttar Pradesh is lynched to death for the same reason.

    The devotion of Rama should come from the heart like Hanuman. Not by forcing and killing the innocent who in fear of death chant more pious than the one forced to do so.

    Is Maryada Purushottam will be happy forcing 'Jai Shri Ram' on other worshipers?

    This type of activity only lowers the dignity of the majority of worshipers who has nothing to do.

    This is not stipulated in charter of rights of citizens in the constitution hence not an offence. Even Hindus can decline to say this but it's upto them to decide. It's purely private and personal, nobody can force, nobody can dictate and one who forces is an offender.
