Patna, Jul 29: A man who was forcefully made to enter into marriage with a woman at gunpoint has been provided annulment by a family court in Patna. The victim is identified as Vinod Kumar, who works as an engineer at Bokaro Steel Pant.
Vinod was forced into matrimony with Kundan Kumari which took place on December 3, 2017. The incident took place when he was in Patna to celebrate his friend's wedding. The accused in this case, Surendra Yadav tricked Vinod into coming to his home, where he held Vinod at gunpoint so as to get him married to his sister.
Vinod faced torture from his captors when they beat him up and threatened him if he refused to marry Kundan. Amidst all the torture he went through, Vinod refused to accept the proposal of marrying Yadav's sister. Soon, Vinod filed an FIR with Panadarak police station. Unfortunately, the police station paid no heed to his complaints and detained him for 16 hours following which, Vinod then filed a case and a criminal case at Vyavhar Nyayalaya. He was given the much needed reliefin the form of an annulment.

Further, he was also of the opinion that the gangs who are operating in this manner are receiving much needed assistance from the police as it was impossible for the gangs to function without the police. Vinod stated that the criminal cases are still pending against his kidnappers and he continues to receive threats from them.
