Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot condemns use of 'Jai Shri Ram' to create communal tension

Jaipur, Jul 30: On Monday, in a state assembly, the Rajasthan chief minister, Ashok Gehlot condemned the use of Lord Ram to spread hate and commit crimes. Gehlot also said that such acts were deplorable and claimed it tarnished the Lord's name as it is not something to be forced out of someone.

Gehlot expressed disappointment over the recent lynchings over forceful chanting of 'Jai Shri Ram' and criticized the actions which were bringing down the image of the country and establishing a hostile environment for people.

Gehlot said, "You (BJP) have owned Jai Shri Ram, but members of both ruling party and the opposition were happy when I chanted the Lord's name. It is unfortunate that you start owning him just as you did with Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel and Ambedkarji, it is wrong."
