Mangaluru, Jul 30: St Aloysius Gonzaga School celebrated the feast of St Ignatius of Loyola, founder of Society of Jesus on July 30.
Fr Michael John SJ, an eminent and distinguished Jesuit was chief Guest for the day.
Addressing the students, the chief guest emphasized on the qualities of St Ignatius Loyola and the service rendered by him to society in various fields especially in the field of education.
Emulating the values laid down by the founder, the Society of Jesus is present in 102 countries and imparting education in 67 countries. He also mentioned some of the distinguished personalities who studied in Jesuit schools and imbibed great values in their life such as late Abdul Kalam, Rahul Dravid and many other personalities.
The principal Fr Melwyn Lobo SJ in his address highlighted some of the important qualities of the founder which has made him great even today. He invited the students for a life of transformation, to be seekers and to develop the spirit of teamwork after the example of St Ignatius of Loyola.
Fr Michael John SJ was felicitated in honour of the service rendered by him in various capacities.
The programme concluded with the school anthem.
