Mysuru: Pejawar Swamiji speaks about interaction with PM, separate Lingayat religion

Daijiworld Media Network - Mysuru (SP)

Mysuru, Jul 31: "During my recent interaction with the Prime Minister (PM) at New Delhi, I urged him to implement law banning cow slaughter, purification of Ganga River, and undertake construction of Ram Mandir, on priority," said Sri Vishweshateertha Swamiji of Pejawar Math.

He was speaking at a press conference held here on Tuesday July 30.

The Swamiji said that the money that would be collected during this Chaturmasa period here would be used to build a students’ hostel here, set up a home for the aged, construction of school and for the development of Vidyamandir. He said that his Math has undertaken construction of a huge hospital at Bengaluru at a cost of Rs 25 crore. "We have started religious educational centre at Pajaka near Udupi where modern education would be imparted in addition to providing information about Hindu religion and culture," he explained.

About demand for separate Lingayat religion, he pointed out that people who believe in Hindu Gods like Vishnu, Shiva, Ganapati, Goddess Durga etc cannot be belonging to any religion other than Hinduism. "In the past, all were Hindus. Because of the British policy of divide and rule, Budhists, Jains, Sikhs etc separated from Hinduism. I request those who have discarded Hindusim to come back and strengthen it," he requested.

He said he is open to the idea of holding friendly discussions with Jamdar, Sanehalli Swamiji, minister, M B Patil etc who are staunch advocates of granting separate religious status to Lingayat,", he said, duly extending invitation to these leaders once again. He said they can come to Mysuru for the discussions, and on the other hand, offered to visit the spot suggested by them to hold interaction. "I am a friend of Lingayats, not their adversary," he stated.

But swami ji you haven't utter a word against crimes taking place in the name of Jai Sri Ram and Cow Matha. Looking into the current situation and as a dharm guru it's need of time for you to convey the message of peace and values of brotherhood among communities.

    Moshu,
First do the root cause analysis. Lynching doesn't happen just by itself. Counsel your youths, see the loopholes therein and then talk about the correcting others....or changing the system....
Ofcourse everyone knows there can be no smoke without fire.

    Shatre,
Whatever you say or defend ongoing terror in the name of religion or vice versa, the thing is very clearly conveys the ideology of the section of people brought bad name to "Maryada Purushottam " Ram and duly tarnish the image of India in front of international community where UN has to intervene and express concern.
There are black sheeps in every community but that it doesn't mean we have to defend them on their identities. Time and again muslim clerics, scholars have condemn any attack or crimes took place from within their fold. This is not the time to blame each other. To be honest I am damn sure Swamijis interference makes huge huge difference than any normal personality. Probably you may could change your perception also. So let put our finger cross.

With all due respect, Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists didnt go away from Hinduism because of the British but because of the Brahminical ideology which created the varnabedha. Lingayats, in particular, hated the way the lower castes were treated by the upper caste people and hence accepted the Linga puje!

    Tikal,

First of all Sikhs, Jains & Buddists did not go away from Hinduism. Instead some became a follower of particular personality and Britishers accorded them separate religion status to suit thier divide and rule policy. If your logic is applied then, we can call Sunni religion, Shia religion, Protestant religion, Catholic religion etc. etc. because all were separated from the main branch due to differences in ideology.

All belonging to one faith or religion called CHRISTIANITY. Protestants, Catholics and Pentecost's are Christian denominations.
    Please correct your knowledge.

    Mr. Lobo,
.... because all your 'denominations' have the privilege of minority status unlike lingayats who were promised separate 'minority religion' status by the vote bank politicians.

What about sc, St, back ward class, tribal Hindus?
Minority status is for name sake.
What benefit is getting from the government.
We don't have job privileges like other Hindus are getting.
Christians, Muslims and Brahmin Hindus are placed in one category. However Brahmin Hindus are most favoured in the cow government.
