Man detained for bursting crackers at Vijay Chowk


New Delhi, Aug 1 (IANS): A 29-year-old man was detained for bursting crackers at Vijay Chowk, the police said on Wednesday.

The accused, identified as Mizoram Subgha, a native of Sikkim, was held from a garden near Vijay Chowk at 5.30 p.m. where he had burst crackers and raised pro-India slogans, the police said.

"The man was demanding that national flag be distributed free of cost to everyone," said a senior police officer. The man was immediately held by the security personnel deployed at Vijay Chowk.

"We are verifying his credentials and background. We haven't recovered any suspicious item from him," said the officer.
