Kozhikode, Aug 5: On Saturday, a 32-year-old woman was doused in acid by her former husband out of spite. The man then repeatedly stabbed the woman with a knife. The victim is identified as Swapna hails from Anayamkunnu in Mukkom.

According to the police the incident took place when the victim was on her way back home from office. The police said, “Her husband, identified as Subhash, poured the acid and kept the bottle on her face. The culprit also stabbed the woman with a knife. Once the deed the was done the accused fled the scene of crime."

The victim was rushed to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. The doctors have stated that her condition is critical. It was found that Subhash and Swapna have been living separately for eight months now. The couple reportedly is divorced. Swapna allegedly divorced Subhash in Kerala's Kozhikode district on Saturday. She is currently married to another man.
