Shimla, Aug 5 (IANS): Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur on Monday termed the government's decision to scrap Article 370 of the Constitution as historic and bold step which would have a far-reaching impact on the social and economic development of Jammu and Kashmir, besides ensuring its integration with the rest of the country.
He said the decision was in the best interest of the nation for which Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah deserve appreciation.
He said the decision reflected the strong political will of the BJP-led government at the Centre.
Thakur said the initiative will held begin a new chapter of peace, progress and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir, which remained in a state of unrest for many decades.
