Rathore welcomes scrapping of Article 370

Jaipur, Aug 5 (IANS): Former Union Minister and Olympic medallist Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore on Monday welcomed the Centre's move to remove Jammu and Kashmir's special status.

Rathore, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Jaipur Rural, welcomed the scrapping of Article 370 of the Constitution and said that a historic mistake made 65 years ago stands corrected today.

"Thank you @narendramodi ji, @AmitShah ji. This is the best homage to all soldiers martyred in Kashmir. #Article370 going going... (gone)," Rathore wrote on Twitter.

BJP ally Rashtriya Loktantrik Party's Nagaur MP, Hanuman Beniwal, also described as "historic" the decision to split the state of Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories -- Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, while also scrapping Article 370, which he termed "a blunder".
