Ensure safety of J&K people in Arunachal: CS


Itanagar, Aug 6 (IANS): Arunachal Pradesh Chief Secretary Satya Gopal on Tuesday directed district authorities to take special care to ensure the safety and security of people from Jammu and Kashmir, especially students from Jammu and Kashmir, in any part of the State.

Stating that the state has witnessed movement of traders and tourists from Jammu and Kashmir, Gopal directed the district officials to keep a close vigil on such traders and tourists and provide necessary safety and security to them.

In a video conferencing with Deputy Commissioners and Superintendent of Police, the Chief Secretary directed them to maintain maximum alert so as to pre-empt and prevent any breach of security or public order in view of the introduction of the Reorganisation of Jammu and Kashmir Bill-2019.

Gopal also gave special direction to the Deputy Commissioners and Superintendent of Police to strictly strengthen Inner Line Permit checking in their respective districts and to keep a strict vigil especially in districts sharing borders with Assam and Nagaland.
