Porvorim, Aug 7: On Tuesday, chief minister of Goa, Pramod Sawant and law minister, Nilesh Cabral announced in the Goa legislative assembly the ammendment concerning card holders and tourists of overseas citizens of India (OCIs). It was stated that OCIs card holders and tourists who wish to register their marriage in Goa under the Common Civil Code can do so without the current regulation of one month stay period.
The period of stay was requested to be brought down to 15 days by the House by BJP legislator and St Cruz MLA Antonio Fernandes.
"Beside OCI card-holders, the law minister is taking into account those who wish to have their marriage registered in Goa under the Common Civil Code." Cabral said and stated that there will be preliminary discussion with the CM on the issue.
