Sonia Asks Partymen to Royal Titles

IANS

New Delhi, Jun 16: Congress president Sonia Gandhi has called upon her partymen to drop all monarchical titles accompanying their names, which the party has already done in its records.

"The Congress president has made this suggestion to the partymen. All the monarchical titles have been removed from the party's records, but she (Sonia) believes they should not use them even in their personal life," party general secretary Janardhan Dwivedi told reporters Monday evening.

He did not give the reason but many in the Congress see the move as a continuation of the party's "aam aadmi" agenda during the Lok Sabha elections.

Asked if a directive would be issued to partymen to follow this, Dwivedi said: "This is a suggestion but I believe it should be issued."
