Mangaluru: Student activity committee event 'Kalothsava' inaugurated at St Aloysius College

Mangaluru, Aug 8: The inaugural function of Kalothsava, the student activity committee of St Aloysius College (autonomous) was held on August 8 at Fr L F Rasquinha hall. LCRI Prof Narasinma Murthy, former professor, Sri Gokarnanatheshwara First Grade College, here and a well-known artiste was chief guest. Fr Dr Praveen Martis SJ, principal of the college presided over the programme.

Chief guest, Prof Narasimha Murthy, in his address said that youth are moving into the fast changing world. Nowadays, we can see nuclear families everywhere. Children of joint families were more creative than nuclear families as children learn and get creative ideas from being with the joint family rather than nuclear family.
Students should learn to collect information and use it in a proper way. Art and artistes are important; at the same time spectators are also important. He advised students to develop a culture of sportsmanship and grab opportunities and move ahead.



Principal, Fr Dr Praveen Martis, in his presidential remarks said that students are the true and chosen ambassadors of St Aloysius College and insisted that the students take this institution to greater heights. Kalothsava is a platform for students to showcase their talents. He advised students not to be comfortable, but instead to become selfless and take risks in life. He advised the students to chase their dreams and transform them into reality.

Student activities co-ordinator, Dr Ishwar Bhat briefed the audience on Kalothsava 2019. He said that the initial purpose of this programme is to identity the students’ talents and nurture them into their respective fields by experts. St Aloysius College has a number of talented students in different areas like drama, skit, singing, dancing, acting, quiz etc and the college is highly supportive, giving opportunities to showcase their talents in and outside the college. He also encouraged the students and said that they must develop their personality and become true Aloysians.

Dr A M Naharahi, registrar of the college, Dr Alwyn D’Sa, controller of examinations, Fr Vincent Pinto, finance officer, directors, deans and faculty members were present during the programme.

Caroleen Jenefer, convenor of the programme welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest. Smitha, faculty of Commerce compered the programme. Dilton Ashwin Mascarenhas, cultural secretary proposed the vote of thanks.
