Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 8 (IANS): Even as the Kerala Public Service Commission (PSC) admitted to irregularities in examinations, state Congress chief Mulappally Ramachandran here on Thursday called on Governor P. Sathasivam to see that the President was informed about it.

After meeting the Governor, Ramachandran said since the PSC was a constitutional body the President's intervention was required. "I told him everything about the PSC examination for recruitment of constables and the numerous complaints about it. I have sought the President's intervention," he said.

On Monday, the PSC said it suspected use of unethical means to write the examination by three candidates -- Shivarenjith, Pranav and Naseem -- and sought a police probe into it.

The three Student Federation of India (SFI) leaders allegedly manipulated the examination to get top ranks. They received answers on electronic devises from outside, it's alleged.

The wrongdoing came to light last month after a student was stabbed in a campus brawl. Shivarenjith and Naseem are accused in the case.

On Wednesday, state police chief Loknath Behra announced a crime branch probe into it. The preliminary probe by the PSC detected lapses and it wanted investigation into it by the police cyber team.

In a related development on Thursday, the police intelligence wing picked up a constable here who is alleged have masterminded the operation from a college. Earlier, the PSC rank-holders association had suspected involvement of a large group in the manipulation.
