Karkala: Team Aero Club secures 5th rank at SAEISS Aero Design Challenge India

Karkala, Aug 10: Aero Club, Nitte a team of multidisciplinary undergraduate Engineering students of NMAM Institute of Technology secured fifth rank in India and second rank in Karnataka in the micro class division of SAEISS Aero Design Challenge India held at SRM University, Chennai.

The event was held from July 19 to 21. Ankith Bhandary was team captain, Sushmita Shetty was pilot along with Josvin Corda, Vidhin Patel, Samartha, Vijetha P, Akshatha were team members. 31 students worked behind the stage in designing, fabricating and demonstrating a fixed-wing RC aircraft system with high payload carrying capacity.

The team was mentored by former members of the club, Ananth Erasappa, Goutam Naik, Karthik B and Shreesha K S. The club is managed by Dr Gururaj Upadhyaya, associate professor in the department of Mechanical Engineering.

The team is constantly mentored by Shashank Shetty, staff coordinator of Center for Student Innovations (CFSI).
