9 kg gold concealed in iron boxes seized


Hyderabad, Aug 11 (IANS): Customs officials at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport here have seized over nine kg gold from a passenger who arrived from Dubai Saturday.

According to officials, the passenger had concealed 9.2 kg gold in four iron boxes that he was carrying. The gold is estimated to be valued at Rs 3.46 crore.

Officials said the gold bars in 'V' shape were concealed in the plates of the iron boxes. The yellow metal was kept in place of the heating coils in the iron boxes, which were kept in two checked-in baggages.
