Two injured in Norway mosque shooting

Oslo, Aug 11 (IANS): Two people were injured during a shooting at a mosque in Norwegian capital of Oslo, media reported.

The shooting took place in Al-Noor Islamic Center in Bearum municipality in Norway on Saturday, Norwegian media reported.

One person was arrested shortly after the incident, reported public broadcaster NRK.

"Nothing indicates that there have been more people involved. A person who was at the scene is slightly injured," Xinhua quoted Norwegian police as saying on Twitter.

Irfan Mushtaq, board member of the Al-Noor Islamic Centre told local media that one of the board members "has been shot by a white man wearing a helmet and uniform."

"A person dressed in uniform with two shotgun-like guns entered the mosque. He started shooting around, but fortunately one of our members managed to overpower the shooter," Mushtaq told newspaper Aftenposten.

As the Aftenposten was informed, five or seven people were present during the prayer when the shooting took place.
