Doha : Pallonji Cricket Team celebrates its Stupendous Success

Doha, Jun 18: It was ‘Pallonji day’ in Doha, as undisputed cricket champions, Pallonji Cricket Team celebrated a series of its recent victories in style, in the company of its able navigator, sports enthusiast, philanthropist, community leader and dynamic entrepreneur Chidanada Naik, who hails from Jeppu Mangalore.
The number of victory trophies the team has won, speak volumes about the popularity and fighting spirit of Pallonji cricket team. It has won 31 trophies in the last five years, and none of the finals in the top level cricket in Doha were played without the presence of Pallonji team during this period!
On this happy occasion, Pallonji had organized a gathering to celebrate the victories of the its cricket team during the years 2008 and 2009. A grand reception was organized at the Asiana Restaurant in Doha on Wednesday the June 17, at 8.00 pm.
The Cricket team committee members, cricket team players along with their families, friends, staff and well-wishers were the guests for the evening. General secretary of ICC Habibun Nabi, chief coordinator of Veteran Cricket Association Saleem Kaiser, founder member of PCA Qatar Haroon, community leader Abdul Monu, QCA coordinator for domestic cricket Gul Khan, Karnataka Sangha president Arun Kumar and Manjunatha Shetty were the special guests for the occasion.

The programme began with a welcome note by Habibun Nabi who lauded the fact that no final match was played in Doha in the recent past, without Pallonji Cricket team figuring in it.
Team players were felicitated by the guests by presenting mementoes. The following is the list of Pallonji cricket players:
Neeraj Barke (Captain) Shailesh Kanchan, Dinkar Puthran, Lalith Raj Menoon, Suraj Barke, Manoj Shetty, Jerry, Akila Gayan, Melroy, Adry, Sushil, Lohith, Rajesh P Shetty, Praveen, Alwyn and Melwyn.
Best Player Of the season 2008-09, Shailesh Kanchan, was felicitated By Chidananda Naik.
Supporters of the team, Vikram Shenoy, Sannu, Dayananda Shetty and Shalini were honoured on the occasion.
The evening was hosted by community leader Divakar Poojary and co-coordinated by Alwyn and Bobby.
Chidananda Naik proposed the vote of thanks and said that Pallonji Cricket Team is a dream come true for him and appreciated his players and the staff alike, for their dedication and support.
Cricket team players and Staff thanked Chidananda for the encouragement and motivation given to them. A game of bingo was played with exciting prizes, followed by dinner.
