Mangaluru: St Agnes College conducts guest lecture to mark 73 years of Indian Independence

Mangaluru, Aug 14: The Department of History, St Agnes College (Autonomous) in association with Centre for Gandhian Studies and Research, MGM College, Udupi organised a commemorative guest lecture on Wednesday, August 14 to mark 73 years of Indian Independence. Vinith Rao, co-ordinator, Gandhian Studies and Research, MGM College, Udupi was the resource person, who delivered a talk on 'Freedom struggle in South Kanara with special reference to Gandhiji’s visit to Mangaluru'.

Vinith Rao deliberated on the oral narratives and chronicles of the freedom movement in undivided South Kanara, documentation on Gandhiji’s visits and tours in South Kanara and the tremendous impact of the Satyagraha movement in this region. Mrs. Meera HOD of History gave an introductory note on the topic and welcomed the gathering. Mr. Charles Pais, Registrar of the College and Ms. Tiffany Barrett were present on the occasion. Sarah Monis, student vice president compered the programme and Faheema, rendered the vote of thanks.
