Fresher’s Day held at PG department of Economics SPC Puttur

Puttur, Aug 15: The post graduate department of Economics of St Philomena College here, recently organized Fresher’s Day at the PG seminar hall.

The chairman, Centre for PG Studies and Research of the College Fr Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro participated as chief guest. He said, "Economics is the best subject which is connected to our life. The subject matters of Economics like money, commodity, production, distribution etc are very relevant in everybody’s life. Economics can be learnt easily with good language."

The principal Prof Leo Noronha delivered the presidential address. He said, "The post graduate students of Economics will have wonderful career opportunities. Students must get inspired by the tremendous achievement of Mysuru based economist Geetha Gopinath, who has been serving as chief Economist at the IMF."

The coordinator of the department Prof Dinakara Rao delivered the preliminary address. He said, "Curricular activities equip students with hard skills such as subjective knowledge and technical competence, while extracurricular activities equip with soft skills. The blend of both soft and hard skills is essential for personality development and career success."

The faculties of the department Sandhya H, Pradeep K S and B T Sowmya graced the occasion.

Annamma welcomed the gathering. Shwetha proposed the vote of thanks. Jayalakshmi compered the programme.
