Chidambaram hails Modi's vision

New Delhi, Aug 16 (IANS): Senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram on Friday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision over population explosion, eliminating single use plastic and respecting wealth creators.

"All of us must welcome three announcements made by the Prime Minister on I-Day. Small family is a patriotic duty, respect wealth creators and shun single-use plastic," he said in a series of tweets.

"Of the three exhortations, I hope the Finance Minister and her legion of tax officials and investigators heard the Prime Minister's second exhortation loud and clear," the former Finance Minister added.

Referring to the population and elimination of single use plastics, Chidambaram said, "The first and third exhortations must become people's movements. There are hundreds of dedicated voluntary organisations that are willing to lead the movements at local levels."

His remarks came a day after Modi during his Independence day speech from the ramparts of the Red Fort, said that population explosion will cause many problems for our future generations.

"But there is a vigilant section of public which stops to think, before bringing a child to the world, whether they can do justice to the child, give them all that she or he wants. They have a small family and express their patriotism to the country. Let's learn from them. There is need of social awareness," Modi said in his speech.

Talking about the wealth creators, Modi said that wealth creation was a great national service.

Regarding the elimination of single use plastics, Modi said single-use plastic poses grave threat to the environment, adding that a significant step must come out by October 2.

Chidambaram is Karthik's father. Karthik is facing several corruption charges. This probably explains Chidarambaram's new found love for Modi. That is my guess. Modi should not fall into this trap and must deal with all offenders as per the law of the land, be it people from the Congress or his own BJP.

Apparently justice does not seem to be a part of the BJP government, where they give MP seats to terrorism accused who are proudly saying they are a part of the gang that tore down a religious monument and also openly adore the killers of the father of our nation.

    They did.

That is the only reason why, in the southern states, the rate of children per woman is about 1.6 to 1.7.

But the northern states, also called BIMARU states, are not educated.

Let us hope the Gujju-bhai succeeds in educating the BIMARU states, and reduce the population explosion in the north.

Otherwise India is doomed, and every one might want to follow you to USA.

One must see if the wealth creators creating their wealth legally and ethically. Then only they command genuine respect from the people. India has a tendency of respecting any wealth creators by invite them to inaugurations, honoring them with shawls, peta, fruits, flowers, mementos and half-kneeling in front of them. A few months later, some of these people end up in jail for creating wealth illegally. What do we do then? Spit on their face? The word respect should have some meaning.
