Mumbai, Aug 16: Mumbaikars each year face repeated hardships, and this time is no different. In a much-needed relief to Mumbaikars, heavy rains took a break and some of the major suburban train services for Pune and south India resumed functioning from Friday morning.
The local train services, especially on the Mumbai-Pune corridor, were badly affected on the Western Railway (WR) for the past 13 days. However, the officers informed that the full-fledged train services along this corridor may commence only from August 19.
12 train services, including Pune trains such as Sinhagad Express, Deccan Queen, Intercity Express and Indrayani Express will operate from Friday onwards.
As per reports, PRO Anil Kumar Jain of Central Railway said, "Five intercity services are going to run between Mumbai-Pune from Friday. Of these two trains, namely Sinhagad Express and Deccan Queen will run from Mumbai, while three trains namely Sinhagad Express, Intercity Express and Indrayani Express will run from Pune. Apart from that, a few other train services including Hyderabad-Mumbai express now will also run till Mumbai."
A senior Central Railway officer said that they have restored two of the three lines, which were hit due to landslides and heavy rain in the region. Mumbai-Pune train services were completely stopped due to the landslides.
