Rohtak, Aug 16: On Thursday, Rohtak post office received numerous posts addressed to rape convict Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insan. According to the postmaster, over 2000 articles can be expected until August 20. The reason for the same being, the self proclaimed godman's birthday coinciding with Raksha Bandan.

The local post office is pulling in overtime to process each letter addressed to the convict. The post office workers are required to assess each article and upload the same in the database. The postmaster has stated the workload being complex and has resulted in great agony as the post office has shortage of permanent staff.

To date, the post office has received almost 7000-8000 articles. A similar agony is being shared by the jail staff as well, who are also required to check each and every article that is addressed to the godman.

Currently, Ram Rahim is placed at the Sunaria jail in Rohtak, Haryana. He was found guilty in two rape cases and murder of a journalist. Back in 2017, he was sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment for rape.
