Ahmedabad, Jun 22: A large number of accountants have been appointed in Gujarat to calculate and maintain the record of cash and jewellery recovered from alleged conman Ashok Jadeja, police said here Monday.
"With millions of rupees and jewellery being recovered from the residences of Jadeja, his agents and relatives since his arrest in Ahmedabad, keeping record of the recoveries has become a problem. Accountants have been appointed to make a record of each asset in the registers to frame the charges at a later date," a CID (Crime) branch official said.
The official said senior police officers have also contributed in unearthing Jadeja's modus operandi and maintaining records that require complex calculations.
"The cash amount recovered from Jadeja, his agents and relatives is huge, running into several crores," the official said.
Jadeja was caught with his wife May 31 while they were trying to escape from Ahmedabad. The total amount of cash recovered from them was Rs.1.98 crore.
