Mughal descendant claims to be rightful owner of Ram Janmabhoomi

New Delhi, Aug 19: A descendant of last Mughal emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar, Prince Habeebuddin Tucy, proffered to donate gold bricks toward construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya.

However, Tucy stated that the donation will only be done if the land is handed over to him. On Sunday, Tucy claimed that he was the rightful owner to the piece of land as his Mughal ancestors built Babri Masjid in that place, back in 1529.

On December 6, 1992, Hindu nationalists demolished the mosque triggering communal stress, the nationalists had asserted that Babri Masjid was built in the place of Ram Mandir. When archaeological excavations took place, remnants of a temple were discovered beneath the Masjid rubble.

Tucy said on Sunday that if Supreme Court hands him over the land, he will donate the entire land for building the Ram temple as he respects their sentiments and the belief that a Ram temple stood at the place where Babri Masjid was built. In his earlier visits to the makeshift temple, he had apologized to the Hindu community for the destruction of Ram temple and offered a symbolic apology by placing the 'charan-paduka' on his head.

The 50-year-old filed a petition in the Supreme Court which is yet to be admitted for hearing.

    While the true history is not read by the new generation, there are many 'Farmans' stated that Mughal emperor Aurangzeb protected Hindu temples more often than he demolished them.

    The original records are well preserved in the national archives which very few have ever interested to read it. The one historian Audrey Truschke wrote 'The Man and the Myth' available Viking, Penguin Random House India.

    Let's not forget that Mughal had ruled India for 800 years and more than 80 % of India and much of Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, and Afghanistan up to Persia is under their ruling.

    In one of his early acts as emperor, Aurangzeb issued an imperial order (farman) to local Mughal officials at Benares that directed them to halt any interference in the affairs of local temples.

    Writing in February of 1659 Aurangzeb said he had learned that “several people have, out of spite and rancour, harassed the Hindu residents of Benares and nearby places, including a group of Brahmins who are in charge of ancient temples there.” The king then ordered his officials: “You must see that nobody unlawfully disturbs the Brahmins or other Hindus of that region, so that they might remain in their traditional place and pray for the continuance of the Empire.”

    In 1687, the emperor gave some empty land on a ghat in Benares (which was, incidentally, near a mosque) to Ramjivan Gosain in order to build houses for “pious Brahmins and holy faqirs.” In 1691 Aurangzeb conferred eight villages and a sizable chunk of tax-free land on Mahant Balak Das Nirvani of Chitrakoot to support the Balaji Temple. In 1698 he gifted rent-free land to a Brahmin named Rang Bhatt, son of Nek Bhatt, in eastern Khandesh in central India. The list goes on and includes temples and individuals in Allahabad, Vrindavan, Bihar, and elsewhere.

    The history books can be changed. But the true history remains.

    SC should declare it as NO MAN'S LAND..No Mosque and No Temple. and severely punish those who demolished the Mosque which triggered riots and communal clashes.

    I shared your opinion up to some point of time in my life. To put things in perspective, I am not a Hindu or a Muslim. But this particular piece of land holds strong sentiments to the Hindu community. And even if a foreign king came and demolished their sacred ground to build a Mosque, it is time now to revert back this land to the rightful community. In present day, if the same was done and the Arabian peninsula was conquered by a country of different faith and the most holy shrine demolished to build a church or a temple or a synagogue, I am sure that going forward, the same would be demolished again to build a mosque. The same holds true in Bethlehem or Israel or the holy places for Buddhists or Jains.

    Does supreme court acknowledge that the Babar built Masjid by demolishing Ram temple... in 1526., If not then does Hindu Nationalists demolished a structure alleged to be a Ram Temple..., somewhere something is wrong..., may be there is a need to re-write the history to salvage the respect of Lord Shri Ram...!!! & the sentiments of all REAL Hindu's (sans Militant mindset FEKU Hindu's, which potentially does injustice to Maryada Purushotama Lord Shri Ram)..,
