Sharjah, Aug 19: The Sharjah police, in a raid on a farm located in the emirate, arrested ten Asians for storing counterfeit products worth Dh 17.10 million.
In an Instagram post the police said they carried out the operation after receiving a complaint from a UAE based company, which owns a reputed trademark saying there were people selling counterfeit products that bear their trademark.
As reported in Khaleej Times, director of the Central Region Police Department (CRPD), Brigadier Ahmed bin Darwish told the publication that investigations confirmed that a number of individuals possess huge volumes of counterfeits that they intended to sell and the group packaged the products in a farm where they lived. The police raided the farm after tracking down the suspects and the counterfeit items.
"Sharjah Police are determined to crack down on such illegal practices," said Brig Bin Darwish who also requested the public to cooperate with the authorities and report any similar cases.
