Chidambaram on the run, asked to appear before CBI within 2 hours

Daijiworld Media Network - New  Delhi (SR)

New Delhi, Aug 21: It is not very often that we hear an investigating agency is not able to find a senior political leader who was a four time Finance Minister, a one time Home Minister and a two time Minister of Personal, Public Grievances and Pensions.

P Chidambaram is on the run ever since the Delhi High Court rejected his anticipatory bail request in the INX Media. The Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI), on Tuesday, posted a notice outside Congress leader P Chidambaram's house, ordering him to appear before it 'within two hours'.

The notice says "Whereas it appears that you are acquainted with the facts and circumstances of the case noted below, which I am now investigating under Chapter 12 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, you are hereby directed to attend before me within two hours of the receipt of this notice for the purpose of investigation of the case."

Meanwhile the Congress party has called it a political vendetta. Communication in-charge of Congress party Randeep Singh Surjewala tweeted, ''India witnesses worst kind of virulent vendetta by Modi Govt as the BJP runs a police state. Judge reserves judgement for 7 months & delivers it 72 hours before retirement, CBI/ED are sent to raid as a respected former FM is hounded. Banana Republic?''

This is a testimony to the rock bottom level our Indian politics has reached. When a person entrusted with the finances of a country himself indulges in such reprehensible corrupt practices, what is left of the morality in our country? These rogues enter politics with the sole intention of looting and look at the level they plummet to. No words are strong enough to condemn this heinous act and the earlier the culprit is brought to book, the better it will be for the nation. I welcome the decision of the high court to refuse bail to Chidambaram - it is widely believed that many of his family members are also involved in several corruption cases - and anyone misusing his official position should be severely dealt with as per the laws of the country. This should be a warning bell not only to the Central ministers but also to those in our state who have been dreaming of making money in politics. Yeddyurappa should not only keep an eagle eye on such people, he should also lead by example. The sight of him running for cover was shown by TV channels a few years back , certainly we don't want a repeat of that.

He is also facing a defamation suit as per newsreports:

The Bombay High Court has summoned former Finance Minister P Chidambaram and top serving bureaucrats, Ramesh Abhishek and KP Krishnan in the Rs 10,000 crore damage suit filed by 63 moons (formerly Financial Technologies (India) Ltd) with regards to Rs 5,600 crore National Spot Exchange Limited (NSEL) payment crisis matter.

63 moons, which is the parent firm for NSEL, had in June this year slapped this damage suit against these three individuals for their alleged role in creating the NSEL crisis and hatching criminal conspiracy to conjure the fall of the exchange ecosystem created by 63 moons to favour its competitor, the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

It is indeed a disgrace, that a four time Finance Minister, a one time Home Minister and a two time Minister of Personal, Public Grievances and Pensions is on the run. He must gracefully appear before CBI if he has not done any wrong. Why abscond like a petty thief.
