Mangaluru: Konkani Manyata Divas celebrated at Lourdes Central School

Mangaluru, Aug 21: Konkani Manyata Divas was celebrated at Lourdes Central School on Tuesday, August 20 with great enthusiasm.

The programme began with a prayer song sung by the Konkani learning students. Elishia Baptist of class VII welcomed the gathering. The programme was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by Fr Wilson Vitus D’Souza, manager, Lourdes Central School, Fr Robert D’Souza, principal, Bleita Mascarenhas, vice principal, music and Konkani teacher Ivan Mascarenhas and students. Amith Colaco of class VIII highlighted the importance of Manyata Divas.

The president of the function Fr Wilson Vitus D’Souza enlightened the benefits of learning Konkani. He also said that we should love our Mother Tongue and speak in Konkani always. “We can also express our feelings when we speak in our mother tongue Konkani.”



Principal Fr Robert D’Souza in his message congratulated all the students learning Konkani as third language. He also encouraged students to take part in various Konkani programmes and make the language rich. He also asked the students to read the Konkani magazines and articles to improve the standard of our language.

As many as 64 students who are learning Konkani in class VI, VII and VIII were present for the programme. The manager, principal and vice principal gave away the prizes to the students who won in the Konkani quiz competition. It was a day of joy for all the Konkani learning students as they participated in the programme and won prizes. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Raizel D’Silva of class VIII. Adin D’Costa class VIII compered the programme.
