Mumbai, Aug 21: The Vakola police on Tuesday said the death at a suburban hospital of a 29-year-old woman who hailed from Mizoram was a murder. Her live-in partner has been detained in the case. The victim, a hairdresser, lived at Kalina with her live-in partner, who hails from North East.

As per police report, the woman used to complain to her friends about the torture and her friends warned her partner, but to no avail. According to reports, the fight got worse after August 15. She was rushed to hospital on Monday by her partner when she passed out after a fight. Doctors, after conducting an autopsy, pronounced her dead.

Though the live-in partner denied his involvement, the neighbours said they heard raised voices and cries. "Initially, her live-in partner denied having hit her, but neighbours confirmed they had heard raised voices," a police officer said.

The community organised a condolence programme and her mortal remains sent to her hometown in Mizoram.
