Mumbai, Aug 24: On Tuesday, Maharashtra BJP president, Chandrakant Patil expressed rather extremist views that are likely to work against him. In a speech at an award ceremony for National Ganesha Festival, Patil said, "The country will run according to what Hindu majority says. If they want a dramatic and theatrical display for the festival at midnight, arrangements will be done accordingly."
Patil was earlier criticized for his outburst at a victim of Kolhapur floods. In his visit to the flood-affected areas of Maharasthra, Patil was approached by people who were worried and filled with panic. Patil advised the victims to remain calm, patient and have belief in the government.
The minister soon lost his patience and displayed rudeness toward one complainant. Patil's outburst was caught on camera where he said, "I understand that you need amenities at this point of time in such a situation, but you have to request things and facilities."
