Lucknow, Aug 26: Six men accused of instigating a mob violence in Bulandshahr, that led to the killing of police inspector Subodh Singh on December 3, 2018, were released on bail yesterday. In a video, which has gone viral on social media, the accused Shikhar Agarwal, Hemu, Upendra Raghav, Jeetu Fauji, Saurav and Rohit Raghav were welcomed with garlands amid chants of ‘Jai Shri Ram’ and ‘Vande Mataram’ after being released on bail. Supporters of the accused were also seen taking turns at clicking selfies and pictures with them.
During the violence, inspector Subodh Kumar Singh was attacked with stones, sticks and even an axe, before he was shot with his own licensed revolver. The Yogi Adityanath led state government had given its permission on June 28 to slap sedition charges on 44 persons accused of inciting violence in Bulandshahr which claimed lives of three people including Singh.

UP police arrested Prashant Natt, who worked as an Ola cab driver in Delhi for shooting inspector Subodh Kumar Singh and Bajrang Dal leader Yogesh Ra, the main accused in the mob violence, was arrested in January this year.
This is not the first instance where murder accused or mob violence accused are garlanded. Jayant Sinha, central minister in the last BJP government, landed himself in the middle of a controversy after pictures of him felicitating the eight men convicted in Ramgarh lynching were circulated on social media.
