1.40 lakh CCTVs to be in place by Nov: Delhi deputy CM


New Delhi, Aug 27 (IANS): Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia here on Monday said installation of 1.40 lakh CCTV cameras across the national capital would be complete by the November.

"The work is on and Delhi will have its 1.40 lakh CCTV cameras by November. The tender for equal amount of CCTVs has been floated," Sisodia said in the Delhi Assembly.

After the installation work for 1.40 lakh CCTV cameras started, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal promised to put in place an additional 1.40 lakh cameras.

Sisodia said the CCTV cameras were important for the safety of women and for improving law and order situation. "These CCTVs are creating fear among criminals that they will be caught for their crime," he said.

Though the law and order was not in his government's hand, Sisodia said the attempt was to secure Delhi for its citizens.
