Bangkok, Aug 27: Association of Franciscan Families in India (AFFI) is a forum of the Franciscan family which functions internationally and nationally as well.
This year, for the first time a South Asian Franciscan Major Superiors conference was organized at Camillian Pastoral Centre, Bangkok, Thailand from August 18 to 24 attended by representatives from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.






'Inter religious Dialogue and Peace Building' was the theme which marked the 800th anniversary of the Encounter between St Francis and Sultan. An interreligious dialogue was held on the first day attended by speakers from Buddhism, Sikhism, Christianity, Hinduism and Islamism. All spoke in appreciation of the aspect of peace in each other’s religion.
The sixty participants continued their seminar for four days specially to discuss Franciscan spirituality in South Asian context. At present, Fr Praveen OFM, the AFFI president along with the executive team and coordinator, Fr Nithiya OFM Cap planned and organized the conference well.
