SC judge Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre retires


New Delhi, Aug 28 (IANS) The Supreme Court Justice Abhay Manohar Sapre retired from his post on Tuesday. He was elevated as judge of the Supreme Court and assumed charge on August 13, 2014.

Justice Sapre was born on August 28, 1954. Enrolled as Advocate on January 21, 1978, he has practised on civil, Constitutional and labour sides in the High Court of Madhya Pradesh at Jabalpur.

He was appointed as Additional Judge of the High Court of Madhya Pradesh on October 25, 1999 and Permanent Judge on October 24, 2001.

Thereafter, he was transferred to Rajasthan High Court and assumed charge at Principal Seat Jodhpur on February 11, 2010. Later he was transferred to Chhattisgarh High Court and assumed charge on April 23, 2012.

He has assumed charge as first Chief Justice of Manipur High Court on March 23, 2013 and therafter transferred as Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court, where he assumed charge on October 19, 2013.
