Kuwait: Muhurat of Mangalorean Konkani Tiatr ‘Kuwait Sodun Vethana’ held

Kuwait Jun 29: Muhurat of Mangalorean Konkani’s first tiatr in Kuwait “Kuwait Sodun Vethana” was organized at director Lancy Rodrigues’ residence in Salmiya.  The programme started with prayer and formal welcome by Vinitha Pinto followed by short introduction of drama and other activities to be held on September 25, 2009 at the American International School under the banner “Konkan Kakla Samithi”.

On behalf of original writer Rosary Ferns, Anand D’Souza handed the script copy to director Lancy Rodrigues.  Lancy Rodrigues handed the songs to music director Kiran Gonsalves.  Title song of the drama was sung by Lancy Rodrigues and Joylene Gonsalves with music provided by Kiran Gonsalves.

Guest of the day Rudy D’Souza, KCWA president gave some advices to the artistes and wished good luck and full support for the programme.  During the conversation, director Lancy Rodrigues gave the brief of the programme.  The complete programme will be full of entertainment with 90 minutes of drama, songs by visiting artistes and renowned singers Mike Simon and Norbert Pereira, selected rib-tickling jokes from local artists and dances from Joas XLNC. 

Music maestro Adrian Gomes will be the music director for visiting artistes’ songs and Kiran Gonsalves will be handling music for the drama songs.  There will be three stages for music, main drama and flash back respectively.  The drama will be revolving with the life of people working in Gulf, their life during working and after retirement, their family’s response etc.  The drama will be having 11 scenes out of which 7 scenes will be having songs.  It will be a new experience for the Kuwait audience with a good message through drama and variety of entertainment which will make everyone to glue their seats for about three and half hours.

Along with Anand D’Souza, director Lancy Rodrigue, music director for drama Kiran Gonsalves, Jaison Lasrado, Rudy D’Souza, Anil Fernandes, Steven Misquit,Vally Sanctis, Jovita Fernandes, Joylene Gonsalves, Cynthia (main character), Valerian, Gratian D’Souza, Anil Menezes, Renny Menezes, Ibrahim, Felcita D’Souza and Vinitha Pinto were present.  Daijiworld.com was specially appreciated for their support for Konkani and bringing many talented works of Gulf Konkans to the notice of the world.

     If the immatured organiser gives the drama,songs,dance and joke ,nothing going to happen. Quality of art and quality of thinking we need in KONKANI. Do not squeez the money from the audience without quality of art. Kuwait people are smart in observation. All the best for new organisation -Konkan Kakla Samithi

    Konkani people like one thing at a time. Pls do not combine Konakani drama and musical Nite. Everytime for a new event do not start new organisation. We want Konkani programes in Kuwait.
