Mangaluru: 'Fit India Walkathon' held at Sahyadri College

Mangaluru, Aug 30: In commemoration of National Sports Day, the students and staff of Sahyadri took part in the 'Fit India Movement' campaign launched by the Prime Minister during a LIVE streaming of the event and pledged to keep oneself fit.

Sahyadri NSS unit in collaboration with department of Physical Education and Sahyadri Health Centre organized various activities for the staff and students on the occasion of 'Fit India Movement' launched by our Prime Minister on August 29. A walkathon event was held for all the teaching and non-teaching faculty and 10,000 steps challenge was held for the students.

Dr R Srinivasa Rao Kunte, principal, Sahyadri College flagged off the event and the staff went on a three round walk around the campus. It is noteworthy to mention that in spite of heavy rain the faculty continued and completed the race.



Walkathon winners - Male category

First place secured by Rithesh Pakkala assistant professor, IS
Second place secured by Shreekath Shetty, campus security in-charge

Female category

First place secured by Shwetha assistant professor, CS
Second place secured by Ashwitha and Sowmya, supporting staff, CS

Special prize for senior category

Prof Hemanth Prabhu, associate professor, department of Civil Engineering

10,000 steps challenge by Shreyas K M student of first year Engineering, D section walked 19,726 steps.
