Explosives, objectionable material recovered from Gaya house


Gaya, Aug 31 (IANS): A Special Task Force (STF) of West Bengal police and Bihar Anti-Terrorist Squad recovered explosives and other objectional material a house in Gaya district of Bihar.

The recoveries were made in a raid conducted by the police following information from Mohammad Ejaz Ahmad, member of the Bangladeshi terrorist organisation Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), who was arrested on Monday.

Wazirganj Deputy Superintendent of Police Ghuran Mandal said: "The West Bengal police came here to arrest two more people on a tip-off by Ejaz Ahmad, but they managed to escape. Some objectionable material, including items used to make bombs, were recovered from their house."

Sources said a timer, ammonium nitrate, gelatin wires, gunpowder and many other devices were recovered from the house.

Ejaz Ahmad was arrested on Monday after which he was taken to Kolkata. He had changed his name and was living with his wife and three children in a rented accommodation in Gaya.
