Udupi, Aug 31: AICS Interschool Football Tournament was held on Saturday, August 31 in collaboration with Don Bosco English Medium School.
Football the world most popular ball game in numbers of participant and spectators, brought in 11 schools at the campus of Don Bosco Shirva.
The tournament was inaugurated by Dr Daisy Vaz, physical education director of T M A Pai BEd College, Kunjibettu Manipal. In her inaugural speech the chief guest called upon the players to play the as a team, up hold the team spirit, to fight till the end of the match without quitting the game. She called the students as model icons and learns the value of humbleness to become good humans as they grow.
The correspondent of the school Fr Denis DSa in his speech ignited the spirit of sportsmanship among the students, he asked the students to follow the national and football players as their role models and told them the benefits of playing team games through four H’s Health, Happiness, Harmony, Hard work.
Fr Ashwin Aranha, assistant parish priest, Fr Maxim Dsouza, principal of Don Bosco school Trasi, vice president of the Parish Pastoral Council Wilson DSouza, secretary of the PPC Leena Machado, Melwyn Aranha co-ordinator of the 18 commission, members of the school management committee Juliana Rodrigues, Melwyn Dsouza, Diana Saldanha, and Norbert Machado were present during the inaugural ceremony.
Priya Dimple Martis welcomed the gathering, Pramila Martis introduced the guest, Savitha Shettigar proposed the vote of thanks, and Shaziya Begum compered the programme.
